Another thread here is about how there will never be a Windows version of Vellum. This isn't about that. I start this new one to discuss the technical issues associated with installing and running Mac OS X on a Windows computer. I understand that there are folks here who have done that. My reason for doing this is because there are Mac-only apps, such as Vellum, that I'd like to try out without having to buy a Mac. If that's your suggestion, don't waste your time. This project is not about that. Foxconn 915M07-G-8EKRS Mainboard Based on Intel 915G: Tweet. Floppy with SATA RAID drivers CD with software: mainboard drivers; Adobe Acrobat Reader. That said, here's what I've done so far: • Started with • Installed VirtualBox • Gone in search of a 'hacked Mountain Lion disc image' • Hit a wall The wall is not that I can't find the ISO file hacked and ready for download. The problem is that everyplace I've found one has delivered up a trojan horse. A lesser problem is that the formats for delivery of these files is not an ISO file, but some other compressed file that Windows doesn't know how to decompress. I got into all that and found more malware trying to tag along with the files I wanted. Install the latest version of Vellum 2.3.1 - Create beautiful eBooks for iBooks, Kindle, and Nook. My reason for doing this is because there are Mac-only apps, such as Vellum, that I'd like to try out without having to buy a Mac. If that's your suggestion, don't waste your time. This project is not about that. Okay, I ought to do this on the up and up anyway. The website referenced above suggests that I can purchase the ISO file from the Apple Store. I'm willing to do that but there are no instructions as to how to access the store and find the item. An iTunes app store search didn't find it for me, but that might be because I don't know what its name is. Someone here suggested Hackintosh. Like other sites, these folks assume I know more than I do about the problem. They leave out steps and left me with the impression that I was in the wrong place. So, my question is, can you provide a link to clear and safe instructions about how to achieve this objective? I'd rather hear from users who've actually done it rather than from ones who have vague suggestions of things to try. But if that's all I can get, I'll accept such advice gratefully. So, I was all set to do this before. I'd found all the info you had about a year ago, except I was going with VMWare Workstation instead of VirtualBox. Anyway, I ran into the same issue you did. I was all ready to buy the Mac OS, but found there was no way to do it, and only malware infected ISOs. Well, with a little digging I found it's against Apple TOS to install their OS on anything other than an Apple branded system. For the most part, I don't mind Apple hardware, so I'm switching things up a bit.
